Will Wausau be home to a new public health vending machine later this year?
The City Council will consider accepting an $80,000 chunk of opioid settlement money to purchase and stock two of the machines for public use in the city.
According to a memo from Police Captain Melinda Pauls the department has already had discussions with Community Partners Campus and Healthfirst Network to place the machines. You can see the memo as part of the meeting agenda packet by clicking here.
Pauls says the machines would provide access to Narcan, also called Naloxone, which is used to block opioid receptors in the nervous system and quickly reduce the impacts of an overdose.
The item is part of Tuesday’s regular meeting at 6:30 PM at City Hall.
