GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – After a roller coaster of a Sunday for the Packers and their fans, Pro Football Focus has released the team’s grades from the Packers’ 18-17 victory over the Saints.
Safety Rudy Ford earned this team’s highest grade (88.2) after recording seven tackles without any misses and also allowing just one catch on four targets on Sunday. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs brought home the offense’s highest grade (73.8) after making five catches for 73 yards and one touchdown. Pass rusher Rashan Gary also impressed (77.8) after recording five quarterback pressures and three sacks on only 20 snaps played.
Other notable stars from Sunday include offensive tackles Rasheed Walker (73.2) and Zach Tom (68.7). Over 55 pass-blocking snaps, they allowed no more than two hurries (one each). Tom was the highest-rated run blocker on the team. Cornerback Rasul Douglas played well too (75.7), despite being responsible for Jimmy Graham’s touchdown catch. He also had one stop and one pass breakup while giving up only 29 yards passing.
With two “big-time throws” and two “turnover-worthy plays” against a strong Saints defense, Jordan Loved managed to achieve a respectable score (63.9). Despite receivers dropping two of his throws, he still managed to complete 57.1 percent of his passes. Love scrambled four times for a team-high 39 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.9 yards per attempt. Just two of Love’s nine attempts over 20 yards were successful, totaling 60 yards. Under pressure, he completed just 1 of 8 passes and threw one pick.
The worst overall scores from Sunday came from Josiah Deguara (41.0) and Quay Walker (43.6). Walker made a team-high three stops but received subpar ratings against the run and in coverage, while Deguara received the second-worst run-blocking grade over 11 run-blocking snaps played. Offensive guard Jon Runyan Jr. struggled this past week as well (48.3) after not giving up the pressure, but was the team’s worst run-blocker overall. Rookie cornerback and preseason star Carrington Valentine scored below average in his first career start (52.7) due to giving up a 27-yard catch to Chris Olave and struggling against the run.
The Packers will now have a short week ahead of them as they stay in Green Bay to take on the Lions (2-1) on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. on Amazon Prime.
