MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Just over a year after he led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended with a crash, a Central Wisconsin man has been sentenced for possession and distribution of fentanyl.
Jacob Gould will serve seven years in federal prison after he pled guilty to possessing more than 40 grams of fentanyl with the intent to distribute. Judge William Conley noted that Gould’s drug trafficking business constituted “a serious offense that endangered the community.”
Gould’s sentence was handed down on Wednesday. He was arrested in January 2023 after an informant told officers that he was heading to his supplier to pick up a package of fentanyl. Officers attempted to pull him over, but he refused and led officers on a chase that reached 112 MPH. When his vehicle finally crashed, he fled on foot but was arrested.
While being interrogated Gould admitted that he was going to turn around and sell the fentanyl that he had just purchased. He also admitted to packaging some 70 grams of the drug earlier in the day for resale purposes. Officers searched his home and found additional drugs and a handgun.
