GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers will be hosting another possible first-round pick candidate in Georgia’s offensive tackle, Amarius Mims, this week after hosting Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton earlier this week.
According to Packers Insider, Mims will be visiting Green Bay as an official Top 30 visit after the team also hosted several possible late-round defensive picks for official visits, such as Missouri linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper, Nebraska defensive back Omar Brown, and Oregon State defensive back Kiton Oladapo earlier this week.
Mims, the former 5-star recruit, is coming off an impressive NFL Combine where he ran a 5.07-second 40-yard dash despite being 6’8 and 340 LBS, and scouts with NFL Draft Buzz rave about Mims in recent weeks, saying he has “exceptional rotational freedom, length, and frame density contribute to his hyper-elite power capacity” and “excels in pass protection through a combination of athleticism, strength, and impressive wingspan.”
The scouts also note that Mims “occasionally stalls leg drive post-initial contact, leading to lost displacement opportunities,” but could still be a great right tackle in the NFL with comparisons to Chicago Bears tackle Darnell Wright.
