WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – The Biden administration is in the process of secretly offering amnesty to more than 350,000 illegal migrants as immigration continues to be one of the top issues in November’s upcoming election.
According to the New York Post, the US government has closed the 350,000 asylum petitions filed by migrants over the last two years if the petitioners do not have a criminal record or are not considered a threat to the country.
Andrew Arthur, a former immigration judge who now works for the Center for Immigration Studies, attacked the initiative, telling the Post, “This is just a massive amnesty under the guise of prosecutorial discretion.”
“You’re basically allowing people who don’t have a right to be in the United States to be here indefinitely,” Arthur added.
TRAC found that 77% of asylum seekers have been granted permission to remain in the country since Biden took office which equates to 499,000 of the 648,000 asylum seekers who applied in the United States over that period.
According to a poll conducted by Gallup earlier this year, significantly more Americans name immigration as the most important problem facing the U.S. (28%) than in February (20%). The poll also noted that 20% of Americans named the government as the most important problem facing the U.S. currently, followed by the economy (12%) and inflation (11%). Immigration was the only issue that had shown meaningful change during that period.
