ANTIGO, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Last week, a Langlade County court sentenced a 32-year-old White Lake man to 13 years in jail and seven years of extended supervision for driving under the influence and killing a man while riding his moped.
In March, Cory Hansen entered a guilty plea to two charges: homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run involving death. The first-degree reckless homicide allegation was dismissed but read in as part of the plea agreement.
The Langlade County Sheriff’s Department dispatched deputies to the scene of a reported fire on the roadway on Wilson School Road in the Town of Evergreen on June 29, 2022, at around 9:45 p.m. A man appeared to be dead at the scene, prompting firefighters to contact the police for further assistance.
Hansen stated he had been drinking and high on drugs while driving and noticed that he had hit something with his vehicle. He said he saw a motorcycle but didn’t say more before refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test.
