MAUSTON, WI (WSAU) – Authorities and church officials have confirmed that a former pastor, two of his daughters, and three of his grandkids were among the six family members who perished in a Juneau County house fire over the weekend.
According to a news release issued by the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Witte, 66, Charis Kuehl, 38, and Lydia Witte, 35, as well as three children, ages two, five, and eight, who will remain unnamed due to their ages, perished in the early Sunday morning fire near Necedah.
WELS World Missions Administrator Rev. Larry Schlomer spoke with WMTV-TV stating that the family was having a get-together at the house when the fire started and called their deaths a “tremendous loss.”
