MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers have landed another veteran pitcher after acquiring former Cy Young winner Dallas Kauchel back in June to help with their heavily injured rotation.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the Brewers have acquired Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Milwaukee’s 21st-ranked prospect in High-A shortstop, Gregory Berrios.
Civale has struggled so far this season, going 2-6 with a 5.07 ERA for the Rays, but will provide the Brewers with another much-needed veteran starter arm and will hope to return to the success he had previously with the Cleveland Guardians in 2023 when he was 5-2 with a 2.34 ERA.
In his most recent appearance, Civale faced the Nationals on Saturday and went 5 2/3 innings while giving up two earned runs on six hits.
