MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Following his trade to the Milwaukee Bucks, a newly acquired star is eager to begin a new chapter in his NBA career.
According the The Athletic’s Eric Nehm, who interviewed Tyler Herro last week during the team’s time in Las Vegas for Summer League, Herro was “anticipating” being traded this summer, and that “rumors are part of the business of the game, and to be in the trade rumors, it’s a gift and a curse. The curse because that means they want you, but at the same time, the team is trying to trade you.”
“I’m happy where I’m at now,” Herro continued. “If I literally had to pick another team in the league to play for, it would be Milwaukee. I’m super excited to be in Milwaukee. Fresh start for everyone – the organization, myself – and we’re really gonna hit it home.”
Herro, 26, attended Whitnall Hall near Greenfield, Wisconsin, and had previously committed to playing for Greg Gard at UW-Madison until switching to Kentucky in 2018.
He reflected on being a fan of Giannis Antetokounmpo as a teenager: “I remember those days and what Giannis did when he got there to take the city. Not only the team, but the city has grown because of him. And he got the Deer District now…like, a bunch of different things in Milwaukee that just weren’t there when he got there. Not only did he bring a championship, but he changed the city as a whole.”
Herro spent seven seasons with the Miami Heat, totaling 7,664 points, 1,960 rebounds, and 1,596 assists in 394 regular-season games. He will now join a young Bucks team with a new head coach looking to prove that they can remain competitive in a strong Eastern Conference.
