TOWN OF SARATOGA, WI (WSAU) — A 16-year-old from Wisconsin Rapids died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night.
First responders were called to the intersection of 80th Street South and Townline Road at about 10:15 PM, where they found an eastbound car had failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a southbound pickup truck hauling a horse trailer.
The crash sent both vehicles into the southeast ditch. Three people in the pickup truck were taken to Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield for treatment. The driver of the car, identified as Jacob Stoflet, died at the scene.
Investigators note that speed was a factor in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the incident. Other responding agencies included law enforcement and medical personnel from Grand Rapids, Wisconsin Rapids, Saratoga, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, and United Emergency Ambulance Service.
