Welcome to the first-ever WSAU Newsroom blog, where we tell you what to expect later today from WSAU News and News Director Mike Leischner.
Our goal here is to keep you informed of what local leaders will be talking about and what decisions will be made- so you have an opportunity to contact your local representatives ahead of time or prepare public comments for the meetings if you so choose.
Additionally, many of the stories previewed here may also become talking points on the WSAU Wisconsin Morning News as well.
As I’m the news director- you won’t see any of my opinions on these stories here- Just what I plan on covering, why I’m covering it, and in some cases- links to previous WSAU coverage of the topic.
First up at 4:30 the Weston Village Board is going to discuss their PFAS situation- specifically, what can be done- if anything- to bring Well #4 back online and stay below the 20 PPT mark.
They’re currently getting by without supply from that well, but things could change in the summer as customers start watering their yards and landscaping.

Later at 6:30, the Wausau City Council will approve another round of No Mow May, only this time the proposal includes no pre-registration or yard sign requirements. Meaning residents could let their grass grow for the month without telling the city they plan to participate.
No Mow May is a movement that began in the Fox Valley a few years ago and has slowly spread across the state. The goal is to promote a pollinator habitat for a month.
That item is part of the council’s consent agenda, meaning unless someone requests to have it removed it will be voted on up or down on a single motion.
Lastly, I’ll be keeping an eye on the Seth Wakefield case in Oneida County. He’s the man accused of helping Christopher Terrell Anderson allegedly kill his girlfriend Hannah Miller. Wakefield is due in court Tuesday afternoon. If anything develops, you’ll hear about it throughout the day on WSAU and here at WSAU dot com.
