STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Stevens Point man accused of stabbing another man at the Portage County library will officially go to trial in November.
Court officials have scheduled Frank Jackson for a four-day trial beginning November 19th and ending on the 22nd.
The 29-year-old is accused of stabbing another man after a confrontation at the Stevens Point branch of the Portage County Library. Witnesses say Jackson had borrowed money from the victim earlier in the day to buy alcohol, then came back to him asking for another loan.
When Jackson was turned down for the second loan, he became confrontational and was removed from the library. He returned later in the day with a knife and that’s when investigators say he stabbed the 71-year-old victim. He suffered a punctured lung but survived the attack.

He now faces felony counts for attempted homicide, battery, and physical abuse of an elderly person. All carry modifiers for the use of a dangerous weapon and the possibility for increased penalties due to the victim’s age.
Court officials had previously blocked off two sets of dates for a trial, saying they would select one or the other based on the time a trial might take. He faces up to life in prison if found guilty on the attempted homicide charge alone.
He remains jailed on a $1 million bond with several conditions including no contact with the victim or the Portage County Library. Further court action is scheduled for September 4th and October 29th.
